Would you like to join York Musical Society as a singing member?
Rehearsals are on Monday evenings, from 7.30 to 9.30pm in the Shepherd Hall, St Peter’s School (8-13), Bootham, York
There are breaks at Christmas, Easter and during the summer, generally coinciding with school terms.
To join the choir, you must be aged 18 or over. You need moderate sight-reading skills, a love of singing and a commitment to attend rehearsals and concerts. You’ll need to do some ‘homework’ to ensure you learn your part thoroughly. Members are expected to miss no more than one concert each year and to attend at least two-thirds of the rehearsals for each concert. There is an annual membership subscription, and a student discount is available.
If you are interested in joining, you will be invited to attend one of our rehearsals informally before a voice test is arranged for you with David Pipe. New members’ voice tests are quite short, and as relaxed as possible.
We only take new members at the beginning of each term.
If you would like to ask about joining YMS as a singer, contact the Membership Secretary at comms@yorkmusicalsociety.org.uk with details of your voice part and telephone number and we will get back to you.
